Canford Heath at a glance
Canford Heath was built from the 1960s onwards and grew through the 1970s and 1980s into one of the largest residential areas in Poole. Its estates of houses and bungalows are set around green spaces and footpaths, with local shops, pubs and a large supermarket.
The area takes its name from Canford Heath itself, one of the largest areas of lowland heath in the country and a protected Site of Special Scientific Interest, home to rare wildlife such as sand lizards and Dartford warblers. Tower Park’s cinema, bowling and restaurants are close by, and Poole town centre is a short drive away.
