Upton lies just west of Poole where the A35 meets the A350, in the Dorset Council area as part of the parish of Lytchett Minster and Upton. It is a mainly residential community with local shops and a small industrial estate, and it is well placed for Poole, Wareham and the Purbecks.
Upton Country Park, on the shore of Holes Bay, is right on the doorstep, with more than 160 acres of woodland, gardens and parkland around the Grade II* listed Upton House, plus tea rooms and a weekly parkrun. Upton Heath nature reserve is nearby, the Castleman Trailway starts at the country park, and regular buses run to Hamworthy and Poole.
