Running the London Marathon for Julia’s House
Some challenges you take on with your head. This one, I’ve taken on with my heart.
I’m Chris Rowley, Director at Athertons, and I’ve signed up to run the London Marathon, 26.2 miles through the streets of the capital, in support of a charity that means a great deal to me and to so many families across our area: Julia’s House, the Dorset and Wiltshire children’s hospice.
Why Julia’s House
Julia’s House does extraordinary work. They provide frontline care and vital support for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, and just as importantly, they’re there for the whole family, offering respite, practical help and a hand to hold through the hardest of times. As a local, family-run business, and as a dad myself, the work they do here on our doorstep is something I care about deeply. Every family they support is a family from a community like ours.
The challenge
I won’t pretend the training has been easy. Fitting the miles in around a busy job, family life and our cocker spaniel Milo (who’s turned out to be a surprisingly good running partner) has been a challenge in itself. But every early morning and aching leg is worth it for the finish line — and for the difference the money raised can make.
Every home sold makes a difference
To turn this into something bigger than just my own two feet, we’re putting Athertons behind the cause too. For every home we sell, we’ll be donating £100 to Julia’s House. So whether you’re thinking of moving this year or you know someone who is, choosing Athertons doesn’t just mean a great local service; it means helping a wonderful local charity at the same time.
It’s a simple idea: our clients get the personal, expert service they’d get anyway, and together we help fund the care that Julia’s House provides to families who need it most.
How you can help
If you’d like to support the cause, there are a few ways to get involved:
- Sponsor the run — every pound goes directly to Julia’s House. Just Giving Page
- Thinking of selling? Get in touch for a no-obligation valuation, and £100 from your sale will go straight to the hospice.
- Spread the word — share this post with anyone who might like to support a brilliant local charity.
Thank you, as always, for your support. It genuinely means the world to me, and to the families Julia’s House is there for.
